Ovarian Cancer Research – Your Chance To Help!
Georgie Herbert is a friend of a friend of mine that is organising a fund raising initiative to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). This year Georgie is aiming to raise $50,000 for Ovarian Cancer as every 10 hours in Australia someone’s mother, sister, daughter, wife, grandma, niece, aunty, colleague or friend losses their battle to Ovarian Cancer and this is a statistic that ‘Mands’ Mob’ is running to change.
Mands’ Mob is a community fundraising group which participates in Run Melbourne each year to raise funds for and awareness of Ovarian Cancer. The team was founded in honour of Mandy ‘Mands’ Herbert (Georgie’s Mum) who is currently in her eighth battle with the disease having been diagnosed some seven years ago and since endured a full hysterectomy, hundreds of sessions of chemo and countless visits to hospital, and against all odds is still fighting today.
In 2014 my mate will be doing my bit for ‘Mands Mob’ and the OCRF by taking part in the Half Marathon on the 27th of July. He has set himself the modest target to raise $7000 but with your help we can achieve much more. He is committed to pounding the pavement over the next 10 weeks so that he can get through the 21km race. Your support by way of sponsorship is appreciated as it will be my inspiration to get out of bed and train during the cold Melbourne winter months so please click here to contribute!
Huge thanks for your support.
