It Slips To Wilkie
It has been an interesting few days politically and as House Of Representatives Speaker Peter Slipper resigns Julia Gillard now needs to revisit her 2010 promises. As a quick reminder:
1) she agreed to a carbon tax of $23 (the Greens), Tick
2) promised regional Australia they would get the NBN (Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor) Tick and
3) agreed to legislate for mandatory pre-commitment on poker machines (Andrew Wilkie). ouch
Of the three, pokie reforms have proved the biggest pain and with Gillard holding only a 1 seat majority she is going to have to resolve this sitiuation and quickly. Watch this space.
